Welcome to Horses for Autism, where we believe in the transformative power of horses for individuals on the autism spectrum. Our story began in 2005 when Johnny Taboada, the owner of Taboada Racing Stable, started advocating for autism awareness. His son, Renzo, was diagnosed with autism at the age of two, and Johnny has been committed to raise awareness ever since.
At Horses for Autism, we take pride in our commitment to autism awareness. Every unraced horse prior to their racing career is named with the word "autism," further promoting our message of autism awareness. As a partner organization of the George Noyes Foundation, we plan to extend our outreach to the fullest extent possible.
We are partnered with Daehling Ranch in Elk Grove, California, where our stallion, Touched By Autism, is standing along with multiple broodmares that are in foal to future Horses for Autism race horses. It serves as the perfect setting where everyone can experience a sense of belonging where they can thrive, grow, and achieve their fullest potential.

Discover more about autism and how horses can positively impact those on the spectrum.
According to USA Today, autism rates rose again between 2018 and 2020, the most recent year data is available, up from 1 in 44 children to 1 in 36. This means awareness and knowledge of autism is improving.
Each unraced horse that comes through our organization is given a name that includes the word "Autism". As well, these horses are outfitted with silks and racing accessories that incorporate light blue and rainbow colors, as well as puzzle pieces, in order to promote awareness. This tradition will continue with all future horses that we work with.
Horses have been used in therapeutic settings for centuries. Equine therapy has been shown to have a positive impact on individuals with autism, including improving communication skills and social interactions.
The puzzle piece was first used as a symbol in 1963 to represent the complexity and variability of the condition. The light blue color was later adopted as a symbol of hope, calmness, and understanding. Today, both are used by all around the world to promote awareness and acceptance of autism, and to celebrate the unique talents and abilities of individuals on the spectrum.
Horses for Autism is a non-profit organization under the George Noyes Foundation that goes beyond horse racing. We harness the incredible bond between horses and individuals with autism to provide therapeutic experiences, promote personal growth, and create a supportive community. Our future programs will combine equine-assisted activities, social events, and behavioral assistance to enhance the lives of individuals and families affected by autism.
Horses for Autism is a proud partner organization of the George Noyes Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, which enables us to accept donations and further our mission of supporting individuals on the autism spectrum to support our mission.
Horses for Autism uses horse racing as a unique way to engage and empower individuals on the autism spectrum, providing opportunities to develop skills, increase self-esteem, and build social connections.
The vision of Horses for Autism is to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum. We aspire to promote understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunities for individuals with autism and their families. Our goal is to make a positive impact by raising awareness about autism and advocating for a more inclusive society. Although we are in the early stages of our journey, we are committed to working diligently towards fulfilling our vision and making a difference in the lives of others.
Horses for Autism was inspired by the founder, Johnny Taboada's personal experience of having a son named Renzo with autism. This led Johnny to become an advocate for autism awareness and use his passion for horse racing to raise funds for autism-related causes.
